Deadline for Spring & Summer 2006 Submissions:
Friday, September 29, 2006

Want an audience for your film, video, or web site?

Undergraduate students and faculty who have required undergraduate students to develop media projects as part of assigned course work are invited to submit films, web sites, digital images, and other media projects for inclusion in the Fourth Annual Multimedia Festival, to be held at the James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence in February 2007. Don't miss this chance to let the world see your work!

Rules for submission:

· Projects must be the work of undergraduate students
· Work produced for a course under the supervision of a member of the faculty is eligible
· Work produced independently at any point during the time a student is enrolled at Carolina is eligible
· Faculty may submit work on behalf of students (permission of student required)
· Video and film projects must be submitted in NTSC format on Mini-DV tape(recorded from the beginning of the tape) or on DVD*
· Web-based projects must be submitted on URLs or a live website or html files on a CD*
· Flash projects should be submitted with both .swf and .fla files on a CD*
· Audio projects must be submitted as: AIFF or MP3s
· If you have any questions about format, or a project that does not fit these guidelines, the Beasley Multimedia Resource Center staff will be happy to assist you

To Submit Your Project:

Label a large manila envelope with your name and the name of the project.

Inside the envelope include the following:
· A sheet of paper with the following information:

1) Name(s) of student(s) responsible for project. If the project is submitted by a team, please designate the main contact person for the team as well as all the names of the team members
2) Contact information for student(s) responsible for project or team contact person. Include ALL of the following: email, local telephone, and campus mail address.
3) Class year of student(s) responsible for project
4) Title of project
5) Media used (identify: 16mm film, video, digital images, etc.)
6) Running time of film or video
7) Name of course for which project was produced (if applicable)
8) Name of professor for whom project was produced (if applicable)
9) Description of course for which project was produced (if applicable)

· Your project in the appropriate format. Label your project with your name and the title of the project

· A floppy with a file in Microsoft Word that provides a paragraph (max 250 words) describing your goals and interests in producing this project. You might choose to answer some or all of the following questions: Why did you create the project? What did you hope to communicate to others? Is there something about the use of your chosen media that is important to the project you created? Should others use multimedia approaches to support research, respond to creative challenges, or pursue other forms of intellectual inquiry?

Checklist for submission:

· Manila envelope with your name and name of project
· Application with information outlined above
· Floppy disc with 250 word max description of the project

All materials must be marked with the name of the contact person and the title of the project

SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL PROJECT; DO NOT SUBMIT ORIGINALS

Submission is not a guarantee that projects will be included in the festival; projects must be accepted by the JCUE Multimedia Festival Review Board to be included in the festival. There will be additional deadlines later in the year for Fall 2006 classes.

* Support for transferring your submission:

Support for transferring your film or video project to mini-DV and your web-based project to CD-ROM, is available at the Beasley Multimedia Resource Center in the James M.
