Ray
Buchanan has long taken photographs of the places he visits
as director of Stop
Hunger Now, a Raleigh-based relief agency. But it was
not until the aftermath
of the September 11th attacks in 2001, while he was working
to provide aid in remote villages in northern Afghanistan,
that Buchanan began to systematically create a photographic
record of the Afghanistan none of the rest of us could see.
The
James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate
Excellence is proud to present this special exhibition
of unique photographs documenting the people and culture of
Afghanistan through the art of portraiture.
The
exhibit is open to the public October 1-31, 2002, in the Kresge
Commons Room (039 Graham Memorial Hall).
